The Bible calls us to proclaim the good news to other people. Mark 16:15 states, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. This signifies that we are obligated to share the powerful message of love, hope, and salvation with others so that they may also come to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour. It is the message that has changed the lives of countless people throughout history, and it continues to do so today. We can be confident that God will use our proclamation of the gospel to bring hope and salvation to those who hear it.
The central message of the Bible is the gospel, which is the good news of Jesus Christ. This message is about God’s love for humanity, His plan for our salvation, and our hope in Christ. In Matthew 28:18–20, Jesus gave His disciples the Great Commission: to go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The call to share the good news is not an option for us but rather a command from our Lord and Saviour.
The Significance of the Good News
The message of the gospel is crucial because it is the power of God for salvation for all who believe (Romans 1:16). It is the only means of reconciliation with God, the forgiveness of sins, and the inheritance of eternal life. Jesus said, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6). Proclaiming the gospel is one way in which individuals get saved because it tells them who Jesus is, what He has done for us, and what He expects of us as a result of what He has done. The message of the gospel is not merely a collection of beliefs or doctrines; it is Jesus Christ. Because of this, the message of the gospel is extremely important because it is the only way to have a personal relationship with God.
The Importance of Evangelism
Evangelism is the method by which we convey the good news to everyone. There are untold millions of people who have either never heard the gospel or have rejected it, making the need for evangelism evident. In 2 Peter 3:9, it is written: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” It is God’s hope that everyone will one day realise their sinfulness and accept Jesus as their Saviour, but this cannot happen if they are not introduced to the message of the gospel. In Romans 10:14–15, it says, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” Evangelism is essential because it gives people a chance to hear the gospel and make a decision for Christ. However, it’s important to keep in mind that we’re not responsible for people’s salvation; God’s Word is powerful and has the power to change lives. Sharing the message is our responsibility; the Holy Spirit will be in charge of everything else.
